During the Accredited 3-Day Intensive ‘Leadership and Coaching with Impact’ Workshop, 21 leaders learned how to win by a nose.
On a few very rainy days in October, twenty-one leaders, managers and supervisors gathered to take part in the Accredited 3-Day Intensive Leading and Coaching with Impact Workshop at Woodbine Racetrack. We watched as the horses and jockeys trained outside, in the mud, muck and the pouring rain, ensuring they remain in top performance form. Although we were warm and dry and greeted with a lovely breakfast, we were also training to elevate our performance, putting us in great shape to win by a nose when leading our teams.
Wanting to tailor the training to ensure every participant got the very most out of the workshop, Dr. Gail Levitt began by gaining a detailed understanding of everyone’s leadership styles based on personal assessments completed by each participant prior to the workshop. From there, Dr. Levitt used her always engaging and dynamic teaching style to lead the group towards expanding and elevating their leadership skills. This highly interactive program helped leaders overcome obstacles to effective management and leadership, improving their ability to motivate and inspire their teams through vibrant group discussion and dialogue, case scenarios, team activities, simulations, technique practice and action planning. Participants learned how to lead their individual team members to become more efficient and effective in their roles and discovered how to remain agile in order to adapt to the varying style of others.
The program put participants on track to becoming visionary leaders and coaches by exploring topics such as; conveying constructive feedback for continuous improvement; proven methods to address conflict efficiently and effectively avoiding escalation; managing change; and how to direct and support others to achieve performance goals.
“The program challenged me in tactile ways to intentionally commit to developing my skills for the team’s greater good. Gail was super engaging, wonderfully animated and very impressionable, leaving me better informed and equipped to move these principles into my role.”
With an emphasis on leadership and management, The Leading and Coaching with Impact workshop, an exclusive CSPN certification program, is designed especially for professionals required to lead and coach others, with and without authority. Through Dr. Levitt’s highly interactive and collaborative method, participants were challenged to learn, apply and receive constructive feedback from their peers and specific focus was placed on current leadership and coaching techniques allowing participants to immediately apply what they learned.
The days were filled with practical learning, refining and elevating the leadership methods of the participants, but they were also filled with loads of fun. The final day closed out after participants enjoyed a wonderful tour of the paddocks where they could view the horses getting ready to race. They then enjoyed a wonderful lunch overlooking the racetrack where they could bet on their favorite and press their luck. Whether their pick won by a nose or lost by a furlong, the skills learned and knowledge gained by everyone who took part in this 3-Day workshop landed them all in the winner’s circle.
